Damn Skippy!

Separation anxiety anyone?

July 22, 2008 Misc | Comments (3) Meesh @ 11:03 am

Seriously, I think I’m starting to have a bit of the above and I haven’t even gone back to work yet.  Well, unfortunately I go back tomorrow and I just don’t wanna!  *throws crazy ass tantrum*

Yoshi Update:

Met with his regular doc yesterday and doc was impressed at how well he’s doing.  Still have some things to figure out (meds management, etc), but overall he thought Yoshi would be feeling much better in a few weeks.  Pretty incredible, huh?

Also, starting next week he’s got appointments, classes, therapy sessions out the arse!

The next step?  He was told that he will need a kidney transplant.  We’ve already set up appointments with the kidney docs to get the ball rolling so that Yoshi can get an idea as to what he can expect in the future.  So, compatibility testing will be in the works for his sister, myself and even a gal from my work said that she’d get tested if neither his sis nor I are compatible!

Let the testing begin!

At the drop of a hat…

everything changed so quickly.  This last week has been a frucking crazy whirlwind of emotion, nightmares and many blessings.

I got the call last Sunday morning at 6:20 from Yoshi’s mom, I didn’t think anything was out of the ordinary.  Yoshi texted me the night before saying that they were going to go to Mt. Rainier, so I just thought they were getting an early start.  Then she said that she’s sorry, because she has some bad news.  I was thinking OMG what happened to his dad?  Then I found out it was Yoshi and he was in CCU because he’d had a stroke.  WTF?  He’s 39, seriously… that’s NOT supposed to happen.

In case you don’t know me that well, unfortunately my mind doesn’t automatically slip into the “glass is half full” scenario, especially when it comes to those that I love.  So, I was freaking the hell out!  I was 3.5 hrs away from my guy and let me tell you, it was the longest drive EVER!

I didn’t know what to expect when I got there and quite frankly, I was afraid.  My heart broke when I saw him, yet it filled with even more love than I thought possible.  He amazed me with his ever present sense of humor.  I think the first thing that he said was that Precious was gonna be pissed cuz she hadn’t been fed!  I just wanted to squeeze him.

The doctor’s and nurses in CCU were really amazed at how well his recovery was going.  There’s been some bumps in the road and there still may be some for awhile.  I’m sure it’s going to take a bit of time to regulate his blood pressure and sugar levels and you can bet between the two of us, we will be on top of it!

He was discharged today and our home feels like a home again with him in it.  He is doing really good and is expected to make a full recovery, he’s so resilient!  He’s surrounded by so many people who care about him, who are willing to drop everything, fly across the US and just give of themselves.

I am once again reminded of how blessed I am!  I’m surrounded by the most amazing people and since I’ve met Yoshi, I’m surrounded by even more amazing people.  I personally thank each and everyone of you for all of your kind words, thoughts, prayers and support.  Thank you for your open arms and welcoming me into them!

Thank you for caring so much about Yoshi…

Happy 3rd Anniversary…

New Treatment for Sunburn

A guy fell asleep on the beach for several hours and got horrible sunburn, specifically to his upper legs.  He went to the hospital, and was promptly admitted after being diagnosed with second-degree burns.
With his skin already starting to blister, and the severe pain he was in, the doctor prescribed continuous intravenous feeding with saline, electrolytes, a sedative, and a Viagra pill every four hours.

The nurse, who was rather astounded, asked, “What good will Viagra do for him, Doctor”?

The doctor replied, “It won’t do anything for his condition, but it’ll keep the sheets off his legs.”

I’m just not sure about this getting older stuff…

Abraxus and Cybr left comments at Yoshi’s about Sydney Pollack’s passing this last Tuesday.  I must say that I agree with them; basically, the older you get means the passing of all the great talent that you grew up with.

I don’t know about you, but I absolutely LOVED watching “The Carol Burnett Show” and learning of Harvey Korman’s passing, is a major downer.  I mean Harvey Korman, Tim Conway and Carol Burnett were just freaking incredible together and let me tell you, they made me laugh, cry and snort so many times and sometimes all at once (and it wasn’t pretty)!  That cast and show is such a classic and we totally need more like it, specially these days.

It’s sad, cuz I’ve noticed with each year that passes that there is so much more suckiness happening now, than when I was younger.  It just makes me think of how clueless and unaware I was about life and the events around me.

Was that just me?  Was I one of the few, if not the only one, floating around in LALA land?

Life is such a trip!

Cats + shoes = ???

May 24, 2008 Misc | Comments (7) Meesh @ 9:23 am

Seriously, what’s up with the cats molesting shoes?

My cat, Precious, always goes over to my shoes once I take them off and starts rubbing all over them.  I mean, I’ve smelled my feet and they definitely don’t smell the best; so, why would they roll around on them and such?

But, I do have to admit that it’s kinda cute the way she uses them as a pillow sometimes.

Heartwarming story . . .

Just when you have lost faith in human kindness, someone who teaches at Kean Elementary in Wooster, Ohio forwarded the following letter.

The letter was sent to the principal’s office after the school had sponsored a luncheon for the elderly. An old lady received a new radio at the lunch as a door prize and was writing to say thank you. This story is a credit to all humankind. Forward to anyone you know who might need a lift today.

Dear Kean Elementary:

God bless you for the beautiful radio I won at your recent senior citizens luncheon. I am 84 years old and live at the Sprenger Home for the Aged. All of my family has passed away. I am all alone now and it’s nice to know that someone is thinking of me. God bless you for your kindness to an old forgotten lady. My roommate is 95 and has always had her own radio, but before I received one, she would never let me listen to hers, even when she was napping. The other day her radio fell off the nightstand and broke into a lot of pieces. It was awful and she was in tears.

She asked if she could listen to mine, and I told her to kiss my ass.

Thank you for that opportunity.

Sincerely,
Edna

I got this in an e-mail from a friend (same title as above) and it is actually.  Normally, I’m pretty skeptical about what the results are and they are usually pretty far off, but a lot of these were right on.  If you like Birthday Calculation, then you’ll probably like this one as well.  Enjoy!
